19. Yüzyıl’dan 20. Yüzyıl’a geçiş her açıdan ayakta kalan imparatorluklar açısından acılı ve zorlu süreçleri beraberinde getirmiştir. Namık Kemal, süreci Osmanlı’nın en az hasarı alarak atlatabilmesi için devreye girmiş sayıdaki organik münevverlerden birisidir. Tartıştığı konular; anayasa, devletin niteliği, vatan, Osmanlı milliyetçiliği, hürriyet, biat kültürü, meşveret vb. Kemal’in piyes, gazete yazıları edebiyat ürünleri üzerinden yapmaya çalıştıkları kendinden sonra gelen nesiller tarafından da benimsenmiş İkinci Meşrutiyet Yeni Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Devletinin kuruluş felsefesi üzerinde önemli doğrudan dolaylı etkileri olmuştur.
